Journal

We don't have any medical news except that Hero's next hospital visit will be in late July.

As this school year winds down I thought I'd share a few favorite pictures and updates from the year.

Hero is finishing 7th grade and has been the middle school student council VP this year. He's in choir and just started clarinet lessons, hoping to join the band in August. For his science project he chose to study leukemia as you can (almost?) see in one of the pictures.

Mac is finishing 8th grade and middle school. He plays the saxophone and has recently been practicing a lot. He and two friends joined the solo and ensemble event a couple of months ago, and got good feedback from their judge (an amazing musician who had been on our campus for a jazz concert the previous day).

Both boys have played on the school's A-teams for soccer, basketball, and volleyball this year. They and their teams have done great, often beating much larger schools.

One family highlight this year was helping the boys fulfill their dream to try diving (picture below).

We're thankful for God's protection through it all -- including the day of a major incident at school (Friday the 13th last October). The house bordering the school on two sides caught fire while students were on their way that morning. But everyone was OK, even the house's resident who left by ambulance. (In the picture you can see the school's parking lot and in the background the gym.)

School will end with an eighth grade celebration in about four weeks -- with Costco cake after the ceremony!

Thank you for tracking with our family, and for your prayers.

From 1 John 5, a recent favorite:
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
