Henry’s Story

Site created on December 22, 2018

Sometime late Tuesday night of December 19th or early morning of the 20th Henry was involved in a single car accident which led to a Mayo One flight from Austin to St.Mary’s in Rochester.

Henry was then moved to an operating room where two sets of surgical teams went to work on his injuries. Henry suffered 5 broken ribs, a broken femur, a broken tibia, injured knee and a broken back.

The teams worked for 8 hours to stabilize his condition. He was lucid enough before surgery to thank the nurses and doctors and apologize for getting them up in the middle of the night.

Henry and his family want to thank all of you who have called with words of comfort, support and most especially prayers at this difficult time. Please continue to follow this site for updates on Henry’s progress over the coming months. There are surgeries to come and he will appreciate your support. We will do our best to keep things current.

Guess who?

  •        Plowed snow and said “It was Great”
  •       Almost played Hockey
  •       Doing tilt table today to get ready for standing this week

Yes, it is Henry.  He got a snow plow so he could help other people.  So Henry.

Here are the latest comments from Henry:

  • Get KAFO’s which are like braces to help me stand. Once I get these I’ll be able to have them at home and use them.
  • The knee is healing well and is stable but unlikely that I will get in the XO skeleton for probably another year
  • More than likely I will not go to the Apple Valley therapy place cause it’s three times a week or five times a week and I’m trying to start to go back to IBI more
  • I will also be able to start doing the electrical stimulation bike again

Henry is doing great living at his house.  The kids are doing well with Garrett having a great first year in school.  Take a look at pictures of the Breezeway at Henry’s house going from garage to house.  Mark, of course led the charge.

Henry’s Grandmother Bergstrom has been on a little roller coaster ride with her health with a nice breakthrough this weekend.  Henry’s grandparents on his dad’s side just moved into the Legends Retirement Community in Brownsdale and they love it.
