Newest Update

Journal entry by Sara Wedding

It's been awhile since I've posted an update on our little man. Things up until recently have been going amazing.

He is currently 12 pounds 4 ounces! It's shocking to think only 6.5 months ago, he was 1 pound 7 ounces. He's still pretty small, but he's come so far! We got discharged from the retinopathy clinic back in February when we got the all clear that his eyes are looking really good and are developing normal. 😁😁 We did start working with PT around that time for torticolis and general development. We will eventually start working with OT for his fine motor skills to get him more caught up with his adjusted age.

Here's where things get not so great. We had been keeping an eye on what we thought was a inguinal hernia since he was discharged back in December with his primary Dr. At his 6 month check up, they decided to do an ultrasound to look at it. We had the ultrasound yesterday, and we found out he had an undescended testicle. This is super common with preemies, especially of Hendrix's size, because the testicles don't descend until 7 months gestation. He will most likely need surgery to correct this, but we are still waiting on the surgeons office to call for a consult appointment.

While I'm super thrilled with how well he's doing in general, I'm also terrified of him having to be put under for surgery. I'm remaining hopeful and putting all my faith and trust into the Dr's that will be taking care of him. Hendrix has been through so much in a short time, fingers crossed this will be our last major event! ❤️❤️
