Helen’s Story

Site created on September 7, 2020

Helen was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in August 2020. Her lumpectomy surgery was on Sept. 8, 2020, and the doctors removed one tumor from her breast and two of her lymph nodes that looked suspicious. The biopsy on the lymph nodes came back negative, indicating that there is little chance that the cancer was able to spread beyond the breast. She is also experiencing a bulge in her lower spine that creates shooting pains and muscle tightness throughout her left hip and leg, limiting her mobility and confining her to bed rest most hours of each day. This page is the primary source for any updates on her.

Journal entry by Kristin Van Boxtel

Helen's mobility has greatly improved over the last week thanks to some stretching and exercises she found in a book that was sent to her (thanks Elaine!). She has also been able to sleep through the night twice this week! Thanks for your prayers and support!
