Journal

Hello again, this time from Washougal WA where we moved about six months ago.  I wanted to give you all the latest update on moms situation. Her journey the past few years has been rocky to say the least.  I’ve lost count of all the times we thought we would lose her.   Each time, the Lord seemed to say, “Not yet”, and we’ve been grateful to keep her this long. She has such complicated health issues that the drs have had to do quite a balancing act to keep her going. trying to treat one diagnosis without making another one worse.  We’ve been walking a fine line for awhile now but today we have had to step over it and place her in the care of hospice.  Her drs are saying there is nothing more they can do to treat her. Her heart is failing due to her pulmonary issues and last week she fell and compressed her T12 which had already been fractured last year due to osteoporosis, a side effect of the breast cancer medication.   So our poor precious mom cannot win.  Right now she is comfortable in a hospital bed with pain medication every six hours.   Our goal now, of course, is to keep her comfortable until we hand her off to the arms of Jesus.  When thinking about how she would want to spend her last days she said she wanted to see family and friends, whoever might want to come for a short visit.  Her life has always been about people so it’s fitting that the  end should include  as many of you as want to and are available.  She said “I can’t go see them but if they want to come to see me I’d like that”.   Just let me know so we don’t have too much overlap. I or another family member will keep you updated here.  Your loving cards to mom and your many prayers have helped sustain her thus far. Thank you so very much,

Ann
