Heidi’s Story

Site created on July 3, 2022

Thank you for joining us to support Heidi Lewis!  My beautiful sister and beloved friend was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma which is a rare type of blood cancer.   Like many types of cancer, multiple myeloma can be difficult to recognize based on symptoms alone.  When Heidi’s back pain didn’t improve, she went into the hospital to get more tests and this was when it was discovered.

We are thankful that this type of cancer has many treatments that have proven successful at taming it into remission.   We are also grateful for the outpouring of support for Heidi and her family as we rally around her to fight this disease.

We are thankful for your postings and any support you can offer Heidi and her family as we journey through this challenge.

Our first mountain to climb is a smaller one:  radiation therapy will begin in later July and is promised to offer pain relief as this precision therapy isolates the myeloma in the spine.

If you would like to help click on the planner link and there are dates to sign up for meals for the family. We will be updating the site as we progress.   If you have questions, please contact Kim: 408.568.1457.

In love and light!
Kim

Hello friends & fam,

My apologies as it's been a few months since I've posted here. No excuse other than that I've been feeling much better and connecting with friends and fam via phone & text individually more now. What a tough winter though! So happy for the nicer weather, fewer rainy days, and getting out and about more!

I'm now able to get my first covid vaccinations again (yes the whole series all over again), and will be going through another few cycles of immunotherapy (Revlimed drug) in the next few months, as the last phase of my transplant process. I then go into a maintenance mode, where they just monitor me, and come January 2024 I get to get started on ALL my childhood vaccinations! Kind of daunting to think about now, but I won't get them done all at once, it just starts the process then as I'll be pretty much fully recovered from the transplant at my year anniversary.

My hair is starting to grow back now though (yay!) and I have a lot more energy without any nausea, and my appetite has returned helping me gain back some lost weight earlier this year. I've even been on a few local outings & overnight trips with friends to Paso Robles, Cambria, Santa Cruz & San Francisco recently. I included some photos below.

Here's wishing you all a wonderful Spring, good health, and much happiness!
