Hello Fight Club!!
I'm all jacked up on steroids, so I thought I'd jump on to give an update.
Mom & I took off this morning bright & early for St. Louis. It was chemo day, labs & met with my oncologist & oncology nurse as well. My labs were decent & CEA went up a tad again, 4.2 so still good. Bilirubin is in the green, which is awesome, that means my stents are doing their job. I met with Dr. Tan & we talked awhile about how sick I've been these last few weeks again. I was just in there last week because he was worried about me. I don't normally complain or call them, but I didn't know what to do & sure didn't want to be in the hospital while Kaden crossed that stage to get his diploma. I only call there if I HAVE to, so he said he knew I had something was going on & wanted to see me himself. He thinks I'm trying to fight a nasty virus & it just has to run its course. I'm hoping I'm on the end of it. I have felt pretty good today, just worn out like normal. I felt decent last Friday & ok Saturday for the baseball regional championship game & Kaden's graduation after getting fluids & steroids last Thursday. Sunday was all downhill again. I took Keaton to his baseball game, a double header in Newton. I lasted 4 innings in the shade & headed to my van to lay down & listened to GameChanger the rest of the first game & slept off & on through his second game. I felt BAD. This whole week has been rough but I'm hoping I'm on the upside of things now.
Dr. Tan & I did go over my scans I had last Thursday as well. The way Mom & I understood him was the cancer we are mainly worried about now is in my lungs. The bigger lesions in my liver are calcified, which means they are dead. He did not come out and say all the cancer is gone in my liver but seems happy with my scans and how I'm reacting to the treatments. There are several spots in my lungs still with a few of these increasing in size. However, these spots are staying small, not even a centimeter, so he's not concerned to bad yet but will be keeping a close eye on them. I will have my next round of chemo in 2 weeks, my next ERCP procedure at the beginning of July, next round of scans in the middle or end of July & we will do another round of labs for genetic testing around the same time. He wants to make sure my body is still taking the chemo like it's supposed to or if it's rejecting it due to my body getting used to it, we might have to switch some things up. So only time will tell on that. Until then I will continue to do what I can, listen to my body when I can & keep fighting this beast!!! I will NOT give up!!! Cancer messed with the wrong person & I will fight until I can't fight no more. I don't give up easy, I have Mike Hodge in me ... I'm pretty hardheaded. haha Thanks Dad for that!! haha
Thanks to all the parents & to my mom that have helped us out these last few weeks with getting the boys where they need to be. It takes a village & I'm SO blessed we live in an amazing one. Thanks to all the parents that love our boys like your own!! All our boys have their 2nd homes & 2nd set of parents that treat them & love them just like their own. We appreciate all your help lately!! Also, as always Thanks so much for all your support, love & continued prayers. They are all very much appreciated!!
We celebrated Keaton's 10th Birthday yesterday. He celebrated with his buddies & said all he wanted was win from the High School Boys Baseball team last night... He got that!!! We won our first round of sectionals 11-2. I want to send a HUGE Congrats to our oldest Kaden. This kiddo of ours hit his very first HOMERUN ever... a 3 RUN BOMB!!! Keaton didn't just get the win he was wanting, he picked up Kaden's homerun & delivered it to the dugout to Kaden with the BIGGEST smile!!! We are SOOOO proud of Kaden & this entire team. This a special group to us & we are sure hoping this season is far from over yet. Wishing them the BEST of luck this Saturday in the Sectional Championship!! Let's get it done boys,
GO INDIANS!!! #ROLLTRIBE We are SO proud of you!!!
Good Night Fight Club!!!
Much Love,
Heather
