Journal entry by Becky Pair

This time with Harper has been precious. She’s around 14.5 pounds now! She gets to eat oatmeal and other baby food. Harper’s most recent form of mobilization is log rolling. She can be quite the speedy rolling log. She loves to read books and play with paper. She loves jumping in her jumper, walks in her walker, and sometimes we bundle up and go outside for a minutes at a time if it’s too cold, or stay out for hours if it’s nice!

At Harper’s last cardiology appointment, her echo and EKG looked great! Praise God! Her tricuspid valve leakage wasn’t concerning to Dr. Roten and she said she’ll continue to monitor it. Her pulmonary artery that allows blood flow to her left lung was just the size it needs to be for now and our doctor isn’t worried about it right now! Her blood oxygen level is around 87% which is perfect for her. We won’t see our cardiologist again for two months, the longest ever! 😬 Of course there are still many appointments of other types of follow up.

In the meantime, Harper’s personality is coming out more and more. We wish so badly to show her to the world. Our doctors have said she can get out and about around Easter! Yes, we’ve taken her a few places where there are minimal people, but now that it’s flu season we’re going to keep her at home as much as we can.

CHD effects more than just the heart directly. It effects all of the hearts connected to that heart. Family or friends, hearts are yearning. Yearning to celebrate together and that day is coming. Until then, please be in prayer for Harper’s continued growth and development. Also, please keep some of Harper’s Heart friends and their families in your prayers as they celebrate this season in the hospital: Harper, Kaspian, Rowen, and Priscilla.

Thank you all for your continuous prayers and blessings upon our family. We truly have been shown the meaning of community and witnessed God’s love through it all.
