It’s been a while, but you know what they say- no news is GOOD news! Harvey is now a big ONE YEAR OLD and we are so blessed to have reached this milestone with him. In our original post we reiterated what the doctor told us when we received his diagnosis- only 50% of babies born with HLHS will make it to their first birthday. Harvey not only survived but is thriving! He weighs a whopping 25 lbs and is in the 93rd percentile for both height and weight! His pediatrician said he is meeting the majority, if not all, of his milestones. His most recent cardiology appointment was on Friday and his carsiologist said Harvey’s heart is “the happiest he’s ever seen it”. They had previously talked about taking him off some of his heart failure meds at this point, but since things are looking so good, we’ve decided not to rock the boat. He will continue on those meds without increasing the doses and he will eventually outgrow the dose, which will tell us if he needs these meds or not. Harvey has 6 teeth, he’s mimicking a lot of sounds and starting to say many words. He is crawling like a madman and I do not foresee many more weeks ahead before he’s walking!
