Harvey’s Story

Site created on January 4, 2023

On January 4, our lovable Harvey Goff was diagnosed with Mix Phenotype Acute Leukemia.

Harvey was admitted to Children’s Medical Center Plano on January 3rd he will receive in surgery and in-patient chemo from anywhere from 4 to 30 days. He will be in outpatient chemo for the next three years. He will not be able to attend school until the 2nd semester of next year.

This news is devastating, but we know our guy Harv will pull through this fight and be the energic, playful, and fun-loving boy he is. Please stay tuned to this page for updates from Julie and Rich, and check out ways to support the Goff family during this difficult time.

We love you so much, Harvey! Get better soon. #teamharvey

Journal entry by Julie Goff

Hi Team Harvey!

Today we hit the biggest milestone yet! Today was the LAST chemo treatment of the 10-month intensive chemo period! (I’ve taken to calling it the 10-month phase of hell)

Starting November 1st we are in Maintenance for two years. This will be visiting the hospital once every three months for a spinal tap and chemo. We will go in once a month for bloodwork. He will take oral chemo meds every day. The goal will be to give him just enough chemo to keep his immune system healthy.

That means no more staying home, avoiding crowds and basically living like we’re in pandemic mode. In fact, we’re heading to our lake house this Friday for the first time since early December!

When we were diagnosed in January this day seemed so far away, so impossible. And here we are! I’m pretty sure your prayers and support got us here!

Thank you for those prayers. Please keep saying them because this fight isn’t over!

Love, Julie and Rich
