Harriet’s Story

Site created on February 7, 2021

On the evening of February 6, my mom, Harriet, took a fall down our stairs. We believe she may have passed out or blacked out which led to the fall. She suffered several fractures to her face and has some head trauma. At this time we are using this site to communicate updates on her progress. As of this morning, Feb 7th, she is minimally responsive and restless. With head trauma, it is a lengthy waiting process to know the extent of the damage and to learn a clearer prognosis. Thank you all for your prayers and support for my mom, dad, and our family.

Harriet is coming home!  We received confirmation today that Harriet will be released from Mary Greeley Medical Center at 11:30 tomorrow morning.  We are partnering with Home Instead for onsite care for mom for the next several weeks as mom continues to regain strength.  She will continue her therapy via outpatient with On with Life in Ankeny.

We are so thankful for all the love and support, cards, meals, rides for my dad, and most of all your prayers!  We have such a faithful God that loves us and knows exactly what we need.  There are many days in which we find ourselves tired and weary, but so glad we have a loving savior in Jesus in which we can rest on Him!

Some good friends shared this reminder with us a few days ago.  Ephesians 3:20-21 - Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.  Amen!

Below is a recent photo of mom, this is such a huge improvement and she is so excited to get home!
