Journal

Harper passed away early Wednesday morning, June 29th. She started showing signs that the doctors recommended we call family to spend precious time with our girl. Harper had her family in the room with her into the morning when we said our goodbyes. I watched doctors and medical staff stand quietly in our room for hours. I watched Lila as she sat next to her sister and held her hand. Lila sang her heart out for Harper. Harper's room was filled with her direct family on both sides, including siblings, and grandparents. We had some waking moments where family was able to say hello, and wish their love. We wish more could have attended, but we were thankful of the additional family that was allowed to help usher Harper's last moments with all the love possible.

I'm hurt. My heart aches so deeply. Simple efforts and daily activities seem to take more strength, and motivation than I have right now. I'm doing the things. I'm getting up, I'm completing preparations to create a worthy celebration of life for a little girl that was a light, an inspiration, for so very many. I don't know if, or when I'll post another update now that Harper's moved on to wait for us in heaven. This journal has always been about Harper, and her battle. Harper's no longer struggling. My baby is no longer in pain. She doesn't have to fight, any longer.

Harper's got a lot of friends, supporters, family. We've created a space to celebrate our girl. Harper's services will be at Hope Chapel in Olathe, KS, and her internment will be held at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, and Memorial Garden, July 7. Please attend if you're able. Consider keeping Harper in your thoughts, and prayers, even if you're otherwise detained.

Many have walked alongside our family since Harper's battle began in 2018. Please accept my heartfelt thank you, to everyone. Harper is in many ways the best piece of myself. I will be mourning her loss, as I know many others will as well. Harper's next journey is before her. Harper's end of her battle with cancer is not the end. Harper's spirit is whole, and happy, and she's beginning her next adventure. Goodbye my little cherub. Daddy loves you.
