Hank was discharged this afternoon. The doctors felt he was safe to bring home as they removed the drain from his head, his pain is well controlled, and he’s eating normally. Hank is happy to be home with all his toys. They will follow up in a couple of weeks to make sure the incision his healing properly. Seems like we won’t have to interrupt his therapies and hopefully have him attending kindergarten after the winter break.
Hank is being evaluated for a Baclofen pump in a couple of weeks, which means another surgery unfortunately, but it is at least a couple of months out. Baclofen pump will help with the muscle tone in his legs. The tone is really holding him back right now and also very uncomfortable for him.
For now we are thrilled to have the cranioplasty done. A few doctors knew him from harborview. He’s certainly come a long way since then !
