Welcome to our CaringBridge website for Haley. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for keeping us in mind.

On Sunday May 21, Haley was put into Lehigh burn center for 3rd degree burns on 50-60% of her body with 100% pain everywhere. She’s currently under sedation which will last about 1-2 months until she undergoes most of her surgeries. They’re also giving her a lot of fluid to make her swell from losing so much fluid from the burns. On Wednesday May 23, she will have her first surgery of skin excision on her back to remove dead tissue and put the fake skin on. They’re then going to try to move to her torso and neck the next week. All of this is dependent on her responsiveness and vitals. She does understand and can hear you, she tries to move her feet, mouth and hands to interact back. Haley needs a lot of support right now, they gave us permission to start decorating the room with pictures, animals, anything you think would help. We ask you wait to send/give any flowers until she’s mostly off her sedation. That’s going to be the most important time for friends and family to be here. She’s not going to remember what happened, she’s just going to know she’s in a lot of pain and not understand why so that’s when she needs the most support. Someone will still be here daily with her and we will post with any updates. Thank you for keeping her in your prayers.

Haley successfully had her first laser treatment today.  They did her face, chest, abdomen and right arm.   She will go back in two weeks for the rest.   She was also measured for her compression garments that she will be wearing.   She still has PT twice per week and OT once per week.  They recommend adding speech therapy back in.
