It’s me, Haley! This will be my final CaringBridge post. Thanks for being here. As I reflect over the past seven months, it's hard to believe I was in a hospital bed unable to sit up, stand, or walk.  I have become so much stronger. The therapies I've received have been great for my recovery. I've worked hard and I am determined to keep getting stronger.  Your support and prayers have helped me through many challenging times and believe me, there have been many.

In recent weeks, I’ve gained more of my independence and have started taking steps on my own without the assistance of a walker or cane (around the house for short distances). I’ve become independent enough that mom and dad let me stay home alone! That’s right, I had the house to myself for 4 FULL days and nights. I recently graduated from home therapy and transitioned into outpatient therapy. I no longer need occupational therapy, which is another milestone, and I am thrilled (although I had great therapists). I now receive outpatient physical therapy two times a week with plans to continue for at least 6 weeks. Along with therapy I am diligent about doing exercises at home.  I'm still learning how to handle the fatigue that wants to take over at times.  Resting often was not really something I ever had to think about in the past as I lead an active life.  Although I feel torn between Minnesota and California, my goal is to return to L.A. to pursue comedy. I can't wait to get back on the beaches to play beach volleyball and resume the Captain role on our co-ed softball team. The warm weather will be good for my continued healing too!

Thank you for following along with me on my journey. I am incredibly grateful for the tremendous support I received from family, friends, and strangers. This hasn’t been an easy road, but I feel very fortunate for the village that has surrounded me these past seven months. I can’t wait for what the future has in store for me. I AM coming back stronger than ever. Thank you all for coming along!! If you attended my comedy benefit, just remember....I was diagnosed with a “rare neurological disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome”.  I can’t wait to share my story with the rest of the world! I’m not finished – you can continue to follow along with my journey on Instagram: haleyhebig

Love, Haley!
