Newest Update

Journal entry by John Hengen

Hello Family and Friends,

Thank you for visiting our mother's Caring Bridge Site. A lot has happened since our last update, unfortunately it is not all good. While at Ebenezer, she was getting the care she needed and getting better each day.  On October 16th she pressed the call button many times and waited over half an hour to use the bathroom,  but no one came to help her, so she attempted to use it without assistance. Unfortunately, while doing so she fell and broke her hip . She the had surgery to repair her hip on Oct. 18 and went back to Ebenezer to continue her rehab from the stroke and start rehabbing her hip.  On November 2nd, we had her moved to Benedictine St Gertrude's in Shakopee, in hopes that she would receive better care. She is unable to walk and is getting rehab just to be able to stand. Her spirit is being drained facing yet another major injury.  She was making slow and steady progress healing from the stroke, but now the broken hip has really dimmed her usual spark for life.  She is sad and depressed about her situation, it is hard to see such a vibrant , caring and loving woman in this situation.

There are no restrictions on visiting, so please go visit. The address is 1850 Sarazin Street, Shakopee MN 55379 Room 200.

You will need to answer some covid questions on a screen in the entry way. If you have troubles, it seldom works correctly, just ring the doorbell and sign in at the front desk.
