Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  Gwen has had Primary Biliary Cholangitis her whole life.  However, unaware until  2013  when testing was done on her liver.  At that point Gwen had full scarring , label is phase four and the bile ducts do not perform.  On Jan 3rd Gwen was admitted to the hospital because she could not breath when going up steps.  Gwen had 2.5 liters of fluid pulled from right lung.  4 days of testing in the hospital it was the liver that had failed.  Gwen as of Feb. 21, 2022 has been put on the list to receive a full liver transplant.  Gwen has rare blood so a match will also need to happen besides a full liver.  The transplant is going to be done through the U of M Liver Surgeons.

Gwen’s surgery went better than expected and they were able to finish earlier than expected last night.  Gwen is doing well and will be in the ICU for the next three days.
