Journal entry by Gretchen Plummer —
Hi, Yesterday, a week after my surgery, I got home! So wonderful to be with family in my own cozy home. I met so many dear people while lying in the hospital, it was really moving to connect with these people in such an intense and constant way. Yesterday two darling young people drove me home from Oakland. I immediately bonded with the young woman who sat with me over her love for her alma mater, Saint Mary’s, where Callie is considering going. In short time her enthusiasm won me over in believing it would be an excellent place for our girl. After a much needed shower Todd and the kids went above and beyond taking care of me last night! This morning I woke to the sound of the first Swainson thrush calls of the season! Oh Joy!
I know there is a long road ahead of regaining strength, and adjusting to my new body and on a morning like this, I am ready!
Thank you so much for all the well wishes!
