We have been quiet in this space as Dad/Grant has struggled with pain and being very limited in what he can do. He and mom have pursued and advocated for digging deeper into the cause of this pain. Sounds like some success from having a pain team to stay on top of a better medication regimen as well as some steroid injections into back and hip.
Yesterday dad/grant went for the first PET scan (full body) since starting immunotherapy and to quote mom/Jean, the oncologist was "beside himself" and that "this was the best response we could have hoped for." The tumors in his liver and lung are GONE. The cancer is controlled.
The pain is still there--and the collateral damage of both cancer and treatments are a burden. He needs to regain strength and weight. But this is some light and some relief.
Dad still struggles to sit for any length of time so computer time is hard. Please continue to call him and lift his spirits. Thank you all.
Having been on my own cancer journey several years ago, I know that it is important to really take in the good news even when there is still hard stuff going on. Today is a GOOD day.
