Gordy’s Story

Site created on July 8, 2021

Donations to Gordy's Journey can be made on his GoFundMe - https://gofund.me/d3a3c5ac

We have been so touched by all of Dad's friends and family reaching out through this unexpected and difficult time. We knew Dad was special, but we never really appreciated just how many people cared so much for him. We want to make sure that everyone who knows and loves Dad has a way to check in on his progress through this journey, so please feel free to share this website with any friends and family who want it.

For now, Dad is not able to use his phone, so feel free to leave text or voicemails and we will play/read them to him periodically. Any well wishes expressed here will also be read to him in due time. Any cards can be sent to us (Alex and Gillian) and we will bring them to him at the hospital and, eventually, rehab.

Some of you have asked for ways to help Gordy financially, as this is shaping up to be a very expensive recovery. While we certainly do not expect anything, anyone who feels motivated to donate can do so through a GoFundMe account (link at the top of this page) or simply go to Gofundme.com and search for "Gordy Gray".

Thank you so much for your support of Dad.

All Our Love,
Alex & Gillian Gray

Newest Update

Journal entry by Gillian Gray

Just a little update for everyone who has been a part of this process with all of us. While at Avamere, Dad met a woman named Valerie who, herself, was recovering from an injury. They instantly connected and grew closer together as they helped each other through their individual recoveries. When the time was right, they each discharged from Avamere and moved to a temporary assisted living facility here in Vancouver where they have continued to support each other and recover together. Next month, they will be leaving the assisted living facility for the new home they will share together. We are so happy for both of them and grateful for the joy that has come out of such a traumatic event last summer.
