Gordon’s Story

Site created on July 12, 2018

Our journey began in June when Gordon was diagnosed with gastric cancer at MD Anderson Clinic in Houston, TX. He had been having really bad trouble with acid reflux. Our local doctor was treating it with all of the normal remedies one tries for this issue. Gordon had a scope done by an Upper GI specialist and a stomach tumor was found. As we went to MDA, after many tests and scans, they discovered it had moved to other stomach parts. We have worked a chemo plan through MDA and our local oncologist, so he can begin treatments in Nacogdoches and be at home. The first treatments is planned for Monday, July 23rd.

We are devastated to have to walk this hard, hard road... but we have total faith in our Lord. He is guiding us every step of the way! And we have so, so many prayer warriors who check on us constantly and are asking for favor on Gordon's behalf.

We will update this site as we have things to tell you. We covet every single prayer!!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jeremy Varnell

Friends:
So many of you are wanting an update on Gordon. First....thank you for continuing to pray and love us through this journey. It means so very much to us. He has chosen to forego chemo treatment because it was very hard on him. We have engaged palliative care and they are wonderful! Most all of our family was home this weekend and we had a very fun weekend together. He laughed a lot, held babies and just enjoyed every one.
He has a great appetite and is eating wonderful food that friends bring and I cook.
We ask you to please continue to pray for God’s will and for strength for our children and grandchildren. This is a very difficult path to walk.
We never falter from trusting our Lord.
Carol
