Newest Update

Journal entry by Ruth Molina

Well an entire month has flown by with no updates on mom. Sorry about that but that kind of explains June as a whole.

Spent several days with mom this week.  She looks good.

Her swelling is under control and the feet wounds are close to being healed. The facility had asked hospice for a permanent solution to keeping her legs elevated. They sent over a giant cheese wedge that worka for nothing on short mom.  I have requested an alternate solution.

Her hospice nurse has returned from vacation, Bozens, and she has a new hospice aide James. She complained that James was being too rough with her but I believe its not the person but the procedure for her.  Showers, movement, etc are going to cause discomfort but the benefits outweigh the nots.

I spoke with the dr about her current meds and we are holding where we are. Its working for now.  Mom did start a mild anti depressant dose on Friday at my request with support from social worker from hospice.  She has a lot of emorions going on right now.  While it might be hard for us to see, she is entitled to feel these feelings.

That being said, I think the most important thing is that we continue to ask her and include her on making decisions.  I think shes frustrated about not having any control over her environment and situation.  Remember to not take things personally and remind her that we will continue to love and support her.  Remind her that she is still needed.

If you see mom, please drop an update here. We all worry and its good to know how she is doing.  I will work on getting a new phone activated for her before I come back.
