Gloria’s Story

Site created on April 25, 2019

On Mar 2nd I had a abnormal annual mammogram.  After a few more, I began to suspect something was not right. On 3/29 we were notified I had left breast .  It's been a series of tests since then.

Journal entry by Gloria Danger

I'm sorry it's been such a long time, but nothing new except going through radiation happened (6 weeks).  No side affects until the last 2 weeks of radiation and it seems everything came tumbling down. New Years Eve was my last radiation treatment and it couldn't come quick enough (lol).

I started blistering across the left side of my neck which became quite raw and I had to keep heavy healing creams and prescription creams on it all the time.  (That actually started about week 5).  The last 2 weeks of radiation was the worst.  My skin is all black, pealing and raw from under my left arm to the middle of my chest on the left side.  I was glad I was off work starting 12/24 to 1/7/2020.  I couldn't wear my prosthetic breasts.  That made me terribly self conscientious. I HATE "greasing up" my neck and chest 2-3 times a day.  It feels GROSS!  I have to wash all my sport bras and nightgown every other day because the creams rub off (along half my skin) and I only have 3 gowns (lol).  My radiologist said in 2 weeks (from 12/31) I should see a definite improvement....still waiting.

On 12/10 my oncologist took me off my chemo pills to see if the side affects of the radiology and chemo pills my lessen.  I'm still tired, but not near as bad as I was.  I'm still working for school bus transportation with the SPED (special-ed) kids and love it.

My hair is coming in whiter and curly so far (see picture). Well I can bellyache all I want to, I AM IN REMISSION....YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll know a little more by the end of March.  You probably won't hear from me until then.  Thank you all for all your prayers and good wishes.  Who says they don't help!
