Bert and Gloria’s Story

Site created on July 15, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.

In July 2019, Gloria was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer.  During the same week, Gloria's husband, Bert, went to the ER, and a cancerous mass was found in his rectum.  Since Bert's prostate surgery, the doctors also found cancer in his prostate.

We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Darryl Wong

Visited Mom and Dad from July 2 to 6.  They continue to be able to live on their own after their cancer treatments. The continue to take chemo pills to try to prevent the recurrence of cancer, and dad continues to take shots to keep his prostate cancer in check.
Mom fell and bruised her leg before our visit, but she is improving and is able to walk.
Dad is wearing custom compression socks. When I was there, I was able to help dad put on the socks and take them off.   The socks keep dad’s lower legs from swelling.  The hard part is for mom to put dad’s socks on, because it is hard for her to bend down.

Took mom and dad to San Mateo Central Park on July 4th and to Sacramento whlie we were there. They enjoyed being able to go out of the house to someplace else besides running errands and to the doctor’s office.
Please continue to pray for mom and dad to have relatively good health to live on their own.
