Glen’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Glen was in a very bad car accident the evening of Saturday, Nov. 9th around 8:30pm. He was heading to Big Bear lodge after working in Glen Flora for the day.  It was snowing and he hit black ice, rolled his truck, hit a culvert, and was ejected from his truck. Frog was with him as well. Frog managed to get out of the truck, and went looking for Glen and his phone in the dark, with no luck he went back into the truck and found a flashlight and turned it on. Luckily awhile later a car happened to drive by as they were on a very rural road, saw the flashlight on, stopped and saw they were injured, drove to big bear to ask them to call 911.  The lady driving just so happened to be a nurse! They were transferred to Park Falls and Frog was released and sent home. He is hurt but okay. They wanted to air lift Glen but because of the bad weather conditions they could not so he went to the Marshfield hospital in an ambulance. The doctors there agreed it would be best that he get transferred to the UW Hospital in Madison. He was put in an induced coma so he wouldn’t flail around as he was as connected to many machines and once there he received surgery on his neck/spinal cord as he had lost all feeling from the chest down. He also received surgery on his eye because it was severely punctured. The surgeries went well and he started to wake up Sunday evening around 10pm. The doctors are pretty confident that he will still be able to see out of the eye that was injured. It won’t be perfect but he still should have some site. Glen is very sedated so it is too early to tell if he has regained any feeling back but the doctors are thinking he will. We are all so very hopeful and will continue to pray. So many well wishes have been sent his way and we thank you all so much!
