Glen’s Story

Site created on May 1, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On April 12, 2019 Glen had a seizure at home and was brought to United hospital in St Paul.  Dr determined that he had a 4cm size tumor in the front right lobe of his brain.

April 16 it was removed and he was discharged from the hospital on April 19.  His tumor has been diagnosed as Anaplastic Oligodendroglioma grade 3.  Brain tumors are classified as grade 1-4 with 1 and 2 being more benign and slow growing and 3 and 4 being more malignant and faster growing.  We have been told that his cancer is treatable and the treatment available has been very successful in other people with the same diagnosis.

We've had a consult with one oncologist and we have another on Tuesday 5/7.  We know that chemotherapy and radiation will be his treatment, we're just getting all options before moving forward.

As a family we're staying as positive as possible even though we are scared and still absorbing the reality of all of this.

Glen is happy to be back at helping coach Noah's baseball team and he's healing from his surgery and feeling more like himself every day❤️  He's not back at work yet but plans to go back half days starting May 13.

We have received so much love and support from family and friends and we're so very grateful!

Journal entry by Kristin Ritter

For those of you who don't know, Glen was admitted to the hospital on Monday 6/24 with an elevated creatinine. Since a high level of this protein indicates that the kidney is not working correctly and Glen only has one kidney, they're keeping him in the hospital until it starts to go down.

He's feeling good, just bored being there.  Asking for prayers that his creatinine goes down and he can go home!
