Journal entry by Debra Hering —
Good day lovely visitors. We are still here and kicking. Just wanted to let you know he is coming along a bit better each week. On Thursday 7/4 he will be back down to 30 prednisone a day. We will see how it goes. Hopefully no problems this time with the GVHD. Right now we go to OHSU once every 2 weeks. So that is not so bad. On the off weeks we see his doctor in Corvallis. There is nothing wrong they are just keeping an eye on things. He gets a blood draw once a week. His numbers are still good and continue to go up. His last T-cell count was 85% donor, so that was really good. Prior to that one he was 65%. Two weeks ago he had another bone marrow biopsy, we will get the results this Wednesday.
I am afraid I lost the battle of the birds😬 😬 😬 We are now the proud parents of 24 Quail eggs. Hopefully one or more will hatch this coming weekend. I am sure you can tell I can hardly wait. And no he has not forgot about pigeons either. I know they are still in the planning stage. His planning stage is probably catching me at a weak moment.
It has been an interesting hard journey so far. I feel fairly confident in saying the stem cell transplant has been a success. He is leap years ahead of where he was at last Dec. We try to remind ourselves each day of the big picture when all the little things start to add up and bother him (and me). Especially for him being weak. I see him getting stronger a tiny bit at a time. He is way better than 2 months ago. I think it will happen it is just slow.
Thank you for hanging in, I will get back with you in a couple of weeks. I will give a Quail update!!!!!
