Glen’s Story

Site created on December 23, 2019

If you know Glen Janos, you know he is a family-loving man who enjoys the simple things in life. A shot of whiskey, a nice pour of bourbon, a glass of red wine, shooting the breeze with his friends, and watching his kids and grandkids grow and blossom. Glen loves to travel the world with his wife, Jan and spend time with family in Florida each winter.

In Early October 2019, family began to notice Glen was forgetting his train of thought more often than usual and he was becoming increasingly confused as time went on. By December 1st, he was having difficulty getting his thoughts out and was struggling to make sense of his sentences. His family became very concerned and urged Jan to speak to his doctor about it.

On December 2nd, Glen and Jan went to the doctor for a routine check. Jan expressed her increasing concern with Glen's confusion and mixed up speech, so his doctor began conducting tests for dementia.  A scan of his brain was taken on the 3rd to rule out stroke and dementia, but what was found was nothing anyone expected. They received a phone call asking them to return to the office the following morning to go over the results. Unprepared for the news they were about to hear, Glen, Jan and Josh learned that a 4cm tumor had been growing deep inside the left frontal lobe of his brain. As the tumor grew, it began to press against other parts of his brain, one part being the section that controls speech. No one could have prepared any of the Janos family for this diagnosis.

Glen and his family have been to appointment after appointment to discuss options, plans, procedures, and scans. This is a whole new realm of confusing terms and concepts for everyone. Together though, they continue to bravely walk with grace through this unfathomable journey.  Glen is so fortunate to have his incredible wife and dedicated, loving children by his side through every step of the way. Please lift this man and his family up in your prayers and keep an eye out here for updates as we progress through this and learn more. Peace and love to you - The Janos Family

Journal entry by Megan Janos

Family & Friends: with sadness, and yet relief, we would like to spread the news that my dad, Glen Janos, has passed away. After months of battling brain cancer he passed peacefully at home on Monday evening. While we are filled with grief, we are thankful that he is now pain free and at peace in God’s kingdom with his mom and dad. Thank you all for your support, prayers and well wishes over the past few months. We will have a joint celebration of life service for dad and his father Paul who passed away in June. The event will be on August 8th, with more details to follow at http://www.janosmemorial.com/
