Journal entry by Cathy Marchette —
Time has passed quickly the last two weeks. Gip has been really busy with 4 to 6 hrs of therapy a day. Even on Saturday he has 1 hour. Sunday is a day of rest and we usually try to zoom in on Living Hope's Sunday service.
Gip is making great strides with using his left leg. He can now stand for a few minutes holding on to a bar. And just yesterday he was able to walk using a 4 pronged cane and, a therapist for back up ,to walk around 15 feet. This was my big surprise from him. I knew he was working on this in the gym but did not know how much he had progressed! This has given us much encouragement! So going home will still be with a wheelchair but with an ability to transfer much easier.
Gip is on a regular menu now but eating is still slow. Please pray that Gips appetite and his swallowing will continue to improve. We are having to watch his sugar intake and he is on a low sodium diet.
Gip is still dealing with left neglect but it is improving . The vision therapy is helping a lot.
We are preparing to go home the 22nd and this coming week will involve training for me and other family members to care for Gip at home. We will still have several days of out patient therapy when we go home too. I believe being home will be good for Gip but also challenging for all of us.
Thanks to all for the phone calls, visits and the prayers! We love yall!
