Journal entry by Helen Burnett —
Well folks,
After some major travel hiccups (of course…) we are FINALLY back home in Austin. We had an exceptional travel nurse named Tish that accompanied us from our hotel in Tenerife all the way to my mom’s house in Austin. It was such a comfort to have her help. My mom was welcomed with a brand new mattress and downstairs setup complete with a string of family photos provided by Grant and Shannon, which made her feel right at home.
My mother is adjusting to her new (temporary) reality and finding mobility again. Reality has definitely hit since coming home, and I ask that friends and loved ones reaching out to visit please be patient and understanding until she is ready.
To those who have asked how they can help, Michelle Carlson has graciously set up a Meal Train account for anyone interested. The link is:
Although it has felt like a lifetime, the 3-week anniversary of the accident is tomorrow (Tuesday). I don’t think any of us have even begun trying to process everything, but I do know that we’ve never had more gratitude and felt so full- I cannot say it enough.
We would not have gotten this far without the love, support & prays from so many people, and the huge help of close friends and family.
My brother Willie Burnett and I especially want to thank you all for helping to shoulder the load; many hands make light work! ❤
