Journal entry by Ginger Cobb

Just about three months ago at the end of May I had an episode that landed me in the hospital.  I passed out at work and when they got me to the hospital my blood glucose was over 600 and I had also had a TIA.  We got through that and my endocrinologist wanted me to go for an eye exam to make sure no retinal damage had been done due to the high glucose.  On the routine exam the optometrist found a raised nevi in my left eye in the choroidial layer.  Next thing I know I have to see a retinal oncologist who diagnosed ocular melanoma.  Within two weeks of diagnosis I was undergoing plaque radiation treatment for it.  Biopsy results have been good and genetic testing revealed it to be low on the Metastic  aggression scale.  I feel as if the last few months that I have been on a runaway horse headed for a cliff.  My next appointment is in December to see if the tumor is dying and to check for any radiation or retinal damage to my vision.  In the meantime I am struggling to keep the glucose and the blood pressure under control. Not to mention the severe mood swings due to anesthesia, pain medications and blood pressure medication.  I just can't seem to get refocused on work and the fatigue I am having isn't helping.  Any suggestions on how to combat all this?
