Gina’s Story

Site created on August 15, 2018

Repeating this story is one of the hardest parts. We are using this space as a way to keep you all updated. Know that we appreciate all your support and interest. We love your well-wishes and appreciate your prayers more than words can say. You'll hear from any number of people (an intro for those who don't know us all) - Marv (husband), Mom (Charlene), Tiffanie (Daughter), Brad (Son), Jessica (Daughter), Stefany (Marv's Daughter).

Now, a recap on where we are right now...

On Friday, August 10th, Gina was diagnosed with esophageal cancer after going in to the doctor due to trouble eating. We are still in the testing phase to establish what stage the cancer is in and the appropriate path forward. This type of cancer is really rare, but Abbott Northwestern is a destination for those fighting it. That's code for "Gina's in the Best Hands We Could Hope For."

Journal entry by Tiffanie Apple

It's been a month yesterday since mom gained her Angel wings. It has been so hard to accept that she is not with us anymore. It has been hard not to be able to call her or visit her or hear her laugh. However knowing she is free from the pain  she endured for so many months does seem to help ease the pain we are now facing. I know she would want us all to be happy and go on with our lives in the best way we know how. I know she would want us all to remember the good times and memories we had with her. And we know she will always be here to look after us.
On Easter, as a family we opened and read each card that was given to us at the viewing and funeral. We all want to take this time to let each and everyone of you know just how much we appreciate the thoughts and generous donations. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and know that mom would be so grateful for the turn out those two days. It really confirmed just how much she was loved and appreciated. Our promise to her was to live our best lives, take care of one another and most of all make sure her soul mate Marvin was well taken care of. And you all have done so much to help too.
We are looking forward to getting together May 5th to celebrate her life and help ease some of the financial hurdles Marv has been faced with. Mom worked so hard her last years to help make sure Marv had the best retirement. I know she would appreciate this so much.
Again thank you all so much for all you have done to help us along this emotional journey. We couldn't do it without you. Please remember to always stop and smell the Roses and dont forget to tell your loved ones how much you love them  before it's to late.
