Gina’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

In early July 2023, Gina went in for some respiratory issues and after lots of testing was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. In addition to the cancer, she is also battling congestive heart failure and COPD.

After a couple short stays in Brainerd Hospital, she was able to return home for a few days. However, on August 11th, she was taken back to Brainerd Hospital where it was discovered the cancer had spread to her C3 & C5 vertebrae’s. They made the decision then to transfer her to Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.

Not the update I wanted to give. 

Gina’s condition from the respiratory illness and lung cancer have made any further treatment impossible. At this time we are switching to comfort care while family has some time to say goodbye. 

Thank you all for your words of encouragement and support.  This was not the outcome we hoped for.
