Glenna’s Story

Site created on May 10, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Glenna (GG) was involved in a very serious hiking accident on May 8th, 2018.  In an attempt to help a hiking friend who had fallen and was also injured, GG fell down a pretty horrible rock slide approximately 85-100 feet. She suffered a terrible head laceration, two compression fractures in her spine, and another fracture in her neck. She also has some pretty significant bruises, cuts and scrapes. Without the quick thinking, teamwork and bravery of her hiking group, we are certain her injuries would have been much more severe. Search and Rescue arrived and GG was lifeflighted to a Hospital in Vancouver, WA.

Her family is able to spend the night with her to ensure she's taken care of and avoids any falls that would further complicate her condition; we are hoping her many, many friends will be able to support us by spending time with her during the day. We've created a task calendar in 3 hour increments, We'll also be adding doctor appointment rides, rides to meetings, grocery store, or just getting out for a little drive to the calendar.

GG is unable to drive for 3 months while the fracture in her neck heals. As we all know, she is VERY active and this won't be an easy task for her without the help and support from everyone who loves her!
