A follow-up appointment at Harborview went more easily and better than expected yesterday. About 20 cars on the ferry, very light traffic on I-5, simple parking, and literally no one in the waiting room in the Orthopedic wing. Georgia’s arm splint was unwrapped and the stitches from surgery removed. There are two long incisions – one for each bone that was repaired.

The surgeon looked over Georgia's arm and x-rays of her hip and again prognosticated full recovery. To our surprise she suggested that Georgia could go without a cast or splint if she would like. That felt a little exposed, and Georgia opted for a lightweight pink “clam shell” style cast that can be easily removed for a shower. It will also give support if she ends up using a regular walker with an optional arm crutch like Sue Taves has suggested would be helpful.

On the strength of the positive news and because Georgia's mobility has improved, we decided to move a bed into the music/TV room where she has been living on her recliner. We spent the rest of the day making it into a cozy trial-run for what we have figured we'll do once we need to live on one floor. Turns out it works pretty well. So last night I got to sleep with my sweetheart for the first time since the accident.

Laura just came by with the boys to say hi to Nana through the window. This quarantine stuff is hard on grandparents. But so grateful they are just down the road and everyone remains virus free. We wish the same for all of you.
