Genevieve’s Story

Site created on December 16, 2011

Genevieve was diagnosed when I was 17 weeks pregnant with Down Syndrome. When I was 19 weeks pregnant, we found out she had at least one congenital heart defect. We were first told that she had a good chance of having hypoplastic left heart syndrome and an AV canal defect. Through the following months and tons of prayer, her prognosis changed for the better. When she was born she was watched very closely and it was determined that the AV canal defect would be her major issue. We were told to expect surgery to repair her defect between the age of 4-6 months, but ended up coming in a little early due to hypertension in her lungs. Genevieve is a sweet, and spunky baby and an integral member of our family. We are so blessed to have her!

Thanks to the person who sent this cute little guy to Genny this week. There was no name or tag on the package, only that it was addressed to Genevieve.  He is now part of the menagerie on her bed. 🥰
