Gaylon’s Story

Site created on September 13, 2023

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Gaylon was just going along living his life and doing all the stuff he loves. He was a little tired and took a nap most every day. We really thought nothing of it. He said “I’m just getting old” Then around Sept 1 everything changed. Dr. Salim called at 9:00pm on a Friday night and told Gaylon his blood work didn’t look good and he needed to come in. Our Mr. Positive needs your encouragement and prayers now. Thanks for taking this journey with us.

Journal entry by Stephanie Moody

Happy Valentine Day!  I thank the Lord that my valentine is still here.  Gaylon is doing well.

He has chemotherapy every 5 weeks (which will continue for the rest of his life).  During that 5 weeks there are two-three weeks where he should be very careful not to catch an illness or infection as the complications could be deadly.   This has been hard.  Gaylon is passionate about many things including people, the Food Shelf and Lion's Tap hamburgers.  It has been 6 months of being very cautious.  Now we are trying to decide what things he is willing to take a risk for.  He went to Men's Prayer last Saturday morning and was so happy.  He has plans to go back to the Food Shelf a few days a month.  He loves helping people.

We talk often about life and what's important.  Is life worth living if you can't do the things you love?     I would keep him home and safe forever, but  I don't think that would be fair.  Gaylon will decide what's really important to him and if he's willing to take a risk.  He loves all of you!

He has to stay home tomorrow!  It's Valentine's day.  We try and make Holidays memorable.

                                                                                Thanks for everything!

                                                                                          Stephanie
