Brian, Maddy and I are still waiting for Gav to get settled in his room, but all went very well!!

11/27/23 Surgery Update:

8am arrival at Corewell

8:30 am brought into a prep room

9:40am nurse brings Gavin to surgery

11:30am update with Dr Mazaris. Surgery went very well, they shaved his head (Gavin was not looking forward to this part, lol), cut along the same incision path as the first surgery, attached his original bone with screws, and sutured his skin back together. The left jaw muscle was detached and reattached during surgery so Gavin may feel discomfort there and along the incision area as it heals. Currently, he has a drain inserted to keep fluid levels normal around his skull, and will be monitored at Corewell overnight. Tomorrow, Dr Mazaris will assess Gavin’s progress and whether he will be discharged to continue healing at home or stay an additional night. 

 

Today has gone as smoothly as we could have prayed for! Thank you so much for all of your prayers and good vibes - we’ve felt them working their magic here 🥰🙏❤️
