Journal entry by katie Izzard

Gary had a bleed in his calf muscle that he was seen for last week. The hematoma became worse, they thought some infection started in the area but ruled that out now, so he was hospitalized after we went to ER yesterday. We are expecting a short hospital stay. They did some more imaging and are determining a plan of care with all the specialists weighing in. Thankfully they decided surgery on the leg was not the best approach. We are going to be letting it absorb and heal on its own which may take weeks to months. Please pray for wisdom for the care teams, especially regarding medications, healing of the leg and also probable future need of more heart surgery for mitral valve issues.
We had a good laugh last week, that about sums things up, when his primary care dr said, "Gary you look really bad on paper but you look really good in person!" God is giving continued grace and peace through it all.
