Journal entry by Kimberly Bowman

Gratefully, I was able to fly back just in time Wednesday to receive training at Medical City on home infusion into Dad’s central tri-fusion line. This was/is a crucial step for allowing him to be at home as his body continues to fight GvHD. This medicine is infused twice-daily to protect his kidneys from the 25 other pills being thrown at them daily, and to fight an additional virus he has now called CMV. Currently, his plan is to continue this until July 4th, then reduce to once daily infusions.

We added blood sugar testing and insulin injections four times a day into the mix since being home as well. This is a temporary side-affect from the aforementioned slew of meds.

This morning, we went to Texas Oncology Clinic for his first outpatient clinic visit. Plans are for him to do outpatient photopheresis twice a week, along with weekly check-ups. Please pray for continued progress, which will enable his medical team to reduce the amount steroids he is taking. Because bless his heart... ‘roids wreck havoc on you both physically and emotionally, y’all. His kind heart is so grateful for the prayers and help it continually brings him to tears, his body is so jacked up on meds and all of this is overwhelming! Please also pray he continues to find comfort and peace through this detailed process that shows to be working.

He’s in “time-out” for now to protect his immune system from something invading it. Mother is continuing to heal, and is getting better each day. Prayers are being answered; positive thoughts and vibes are felt. We thank you so very much for sending them their way! -Kimberly

PS: thank you big to the army of angels who enabled me to either physically get here or who are helping with my boys at home. You know who you are ;)
