Journal entry by Garrett Perea

Sorry to keep you in suspense! First and foremost, this was a success. I wanted two things out of this surgery; to wake up. To have no complications. Mentally, that is a win for me, and anything more is. Gravy on the mashed potatoes.

I can honestly say that both of my wishes came true.

The surgery went longer than anticipated due to my “large abdominal wall”. Haha. Dr. V legit called me fat within 10 minutes of seeing him post-op, lol.

For the what - they were able to remove clean margins for the cancerous area and reattached the small intestine to my abdominal wall. Do not google this unless you have a strong constitution!!

I will have an ilostemy bag for 8-10 weeks before that is removed  think of it as a small colostomy bag, which will sit against my “large abdominal wall”. Haha

The results from the pathology should be back around Friday, but there’s isn’t a firm date on that yet.

I should be at Desert until Friday and I welcome visitors any time someone has availability.

I firmly believe I have the absolute best tribe in the world. Everyone has been fun, caring, supportive, amazing, loving, and just...there for me. And Jackie and Marcus.

I love you all  I couldn’t have done this without every single one of you

onward and upward!
