From Wendy today….
Everything is good. Gibs is continuing to work hard. He’s gotten strong and is wheeling around here confidently and transferring without a board. He’s able to flex his right ab muscle below the level of injury. Still no movement in his legs or feet. Everybody loves him around here and raves about his respectful, gentle, kind nature. From what I can understand this doesn’t usually happen from patients on the floor. Gibs is lucky compared to many injured adolescents and adults that we’ve met. We’re learning to change our perspective…we’re focusing on what he CAN do, instead of what he can’t. They’ve estimated to discharge him from inpatient on September 14 and then he moves to the family apartments to continue with the Day Program of therapy.
