Dear friends and family,
I had the annual re-staging tests yesterday. Everything went really well. I had no pain during the bone marrow biopsy. The physician’s assistant who did the biopsy clearly knew what she was doing. Today, my hip is tender where she drilled the hole. The pain is well managed with my pain meds. The preliminary results from the PET Scan show no cancer! Yeah! The results of the 24 hour urine catch detected m-component and kappa light chains. This means it detected a small amount of cancer. FYI - I have kappa light chain myeloma. This is the same result as last year. So, I won’t achieve complete remission. It does look like I will stay staged as “almost complete remission”. I won’t know for sure until the bone marrow biopsy results are in. It will take a few weeks to get the biopsy results. So far, all is looking good. I’m still hopeful that I can go to a once every four weeks chemo treatment. I’m happy to be done with these tests for another year!
I want to thank everyone who called or sent me messages wishing me the best on yesterday’s testing. It was nice to be remembered by so many of you as I was a bit anxious about going in for the tests.
I will update again after my staging review with my oncologist. That is scheduled for May 28th.
Until then, thanks for the continuing support and prayers.
With lots of love and gratitude, Gail.
