Hi Everyone
This will be my final post and I have a nice way to end this off at the end so bare with me. We are at the tail end of this covid experience  which began December 1 more or less, we are now March 16 so do the math!!
I can tell you Gady has been stellar in his approach to his recovery over the last few weeks. He is and has been working really hard to regain the strength he lost and quite honestly is unvelievable ! He can walk a mile nonstop now no oxygen ,no big drop in o2 sats that i am aware of. We are sending the oxygen back now . Gady still has a ways to go before he is precovid level of fitness. He is not quite ready for the bike yet. His balance and coordination continue to improve and he is able to concentrate for longer periods. All meds have been weaned off now and he has "graduated" from me helping him now!! Oh and he is driving himself!!  , and back at the gym . Gady still gets very fatigued and still he still has  pain and stiffness which will be ongoing work for him however slowly life is beginning to resume for us. Interestingly i find myself having to find my own way forward from all of this. From such an intense, focused and emotional rollercoaster it should be an easy transition to normal one would think.. NOT! I have no doubt i will find my way i think however it will take some time and patience and some much needed space to process! Actsully for both of us tho i cant talk for Gady on this ! So be it.
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support and pray you all stay healthy and happy . We look forward to getting past this covid nightmare that have devastated so many so we can hug each other and be together once again.
Someone said early on do what you can to protect yourself and others so that when we do gather there wont be an empty chair at the table! Well on the one hand i am fortunate Gady will be in his chair on the other my dads chair will be empty! How many countless others will have an empty chair at their table from this??
This now from Gady.
Dear Family and Friends,
What started as a mild cough during December became an ordeal  that i dont wosh on anyone. As you all know by now I became really ill with Covid 19, including 42 days in a coma on a ventilator. I had no idea what was happening to me during all that time. I only heard about it when I finally got home. To say the least it was a very unpleasant experience. I was mostly on my own and 24/7 in bed . It is still very emotional for me to express how I feel about it all. It felt like a never ending story ,each day was very long and not knowing where or how it would end. 3 weeks before coming home they started me on Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy and from then on I had something to look forward to and there was some end in sight. I was moved to the floor below which was an upgrade they told me which was near the gym and near the door which was closer to the way out of there.I held onto that until I was able to go home from the hospital .I was released on Feb 11th after much debate and not without a fight.
I came home with Oxygen and a walker. I was very weak and dissillusioned and i was unsure what was going on around me . I then realized there was a gap of 6 weeks of my life that was missing . Its still missing .... Slowly but surely I regained my strength . From the walker to a cane to nothing to the stairs. I have gained much strength and confidence back now and I believe I am ok emotionally .  I find it hard to believe that this story is about me!!! Nowadays i am fine for the most part but comes 5 pm and I am very fatigued .
I still have not read Gills account on Caringbridge of this episode as it is too difficult for me right now. Perhaps later on .
I know I was not an easy patient , impatient and full of complaints but hey I was as sick as a dog . ( i dont think dogs get that sick😳)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank firstly my wife Gill who has been my rock throughout this whole ordeal . We had endless phone calls at different times of the day and night. I also want to thank all my children and their families for the endless hours on zoom thruout waiting for me to show signs of life. To my extended family your outpouring of love and support has been uplifting and helpful. To all the medical staff who worked so hard on my behalf to keep me alive i owe them all bigtime. To everyone who supported me and prayed for my recovery from all corners of the world  it worked !!!! and I thank you all most sincerely. To everyone who supported Gill here on this sight and elsewhere in all the different ways imaginable I am forever grateful to you all . If I havent remembered anyone forgive me( my excuse is the memory is not quite back to normal yet)
Life must carry on i wish for you all good health because without that you have nothing !! Thank you all ...
Much love
Gady
