Gabe’s Story

Site created on December 4, 2022

Thanks for visiting the CaringBridge website for Gabe's brain tumors diagnosis and treatment. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  The photos above are from Gabe's trip to Spain and the Camino in 2018.
For specifics on his situation, please look through the Journal entries.  The December 8, 2022, and August 31, 2023,  posts give a lot of background information.
The brain surgery to remove the original tumor took place at Johns Hopkins  on Monday, January 23.  A second tumor was revealed in an MRI taken on August 21.
(At this point, we have no need of assistance.  We appreciate all of the offers though! For those new to CaringBridge, the purple "Donate to CaringBridge" link is for donations to the CaringBridge platform itself, not any individuals using the site.)

Newest Update

Journal entry by Kay Yohe

On Thursday, Gabe met online with Hopkins’ staff to discuss the results of his most recent MRI. The tumor’s size remained basically stable. This is in the realm of what was expected given that radiation doesn’t dissolve tumors but should stop growth, at least for a time.

Gabe continues to experience symptoms like hiccups, sharp headaches, dizziness and loss of appetite. He pretty much has accepted this as the new normal and understands it could be much worse given the original surgery, reemergence of the tumor and rounds of radiation.

The next MRI will be scheduled in three more months.

Thanks for the checking in on how he is doing!
