Monday, NOVEMBER 12, 2018 (18 weeks yesterday)
They have given us a go home date - this Friday, November 16! Still a couple of things to get stable - his blood pressure waxes and wanes (high and then low) as they figure out the right combo of needed medications, and they have a modified sleep study to do. But, I think they are on the right track and all should be good by Friday.
So, now to get all the things Fred will need to continue therapy and to be successful at home. He will have therapy 3-4 days a week and I am getting him a hand therapist and voice therapist. If you happen to know any good ones in our area, please let me know. Or, if you have ideas on getting his guitar-playing self the therapy it needs. He will have Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT) and Speech Therapy (ST) for many months; but I want to make sure he gets the therapy for the part of him he is most worried about - being able to play the guitar and sing. Also, setting up some home care for when I need to be out of the house and to help some.
He still has a long way to go - they are saying it will take 10 months to a year for full recovery - but he has come through so much. Thankful beyond words and grateful this day is almost here.
You all have journeyed this with us and we cannot begin to thank you for the prayers and support and love you have showered us with. It has been felt and has made a difficult journey full of grace and kindness. We are blessed beyond measure!!
Much Love!! Fred and Bernadette
