Journal

At Freddie's request, I'm doing one last update.

As you can tell from the attached pictures, he is doing amazing. He's up and about doing his regular Freddie thing of living his best life one Mavs game at a time 😉

As for the specifics, the medications he was on did the job and eradicated the small amount of infection he had in his heart so he doesn't need surgery, which is fantastic. His heart is otherwise in great shape, his kidneys have completely recovered, and the wound from the ECMO is almost gone. Once it's completely gone, I'm relying on all you fitness nuts friends of his  to drag his ass back to the the gym so he can fulfill his goal of being in his best shape ever by the year anniversary of his hospitalization 😊. The clock is ticking...

I also want to take this opportunity to express our family's deep gratitude to all of the folks that played a role in his recovery. I'd list names, but there are too many of you! So many that at his follow up appointment, Dr. Schwartz (the heart doctor at Baylor who did his ECMO surgeries) laughed and said he'd never seen quite so many people in and out of an ICU room. Just know that the visits, calls, texts, prayers, good thoughts, and food were truly appreciated. That also goes for the nurses and doctors at Presbyterian and Baylor. Without their tireless work and skill he wouldn't be here today.

With that, I'm hanging up my hat as a CaringBridge scribe. For future updates, just reach out to Fred directly.
