Frank’s Story

Site created on March 10, 2021

Hello everyone, and thanks for stopping by this site to check in on Dad/Papa/Frank. This page has been created for Mom’s benefit, more than anything… because if you know Mom, she’s going to read and respond to every message that she gets (which she greatly appreciates), and we're hoping that we can use this site to keep as many people updated as possible, and save mom a few dozen calls and texts each day. Thank you so much to everyone that has been checking in and have already reached out to our family; your thoughts and prayers mean a lot to our parents, and to us.

So, what’s going on with Dad…. ?

Here is the abridged version. Around Christmas time, Dad noticed that he had a little discomfort when he swallowed anything. The discomfort wasn’t getting better so he made an appointment to see what was going on. Well, the stomach meds he was prescribed didn’t seem to make a difference, so the next step was to get him scoped and see what was going on inside. Due to COVID, that took a little bit longer to happen than he would have liked… but, he was able to get in for his scope last Thursday. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to complete the scope due to a large mass that was keeping the scope from making it through his esophagus and into his stomach. Long story short, a few days later we got the news that we were hoping not to get, it was a malignant tumor on his esophagus.

Dad’s biggest concern at this point... “I hope this doesn’t interfere with our trip to Branson next week…”. Ha, that’s Dad for you.

Fast forward to today; Mom and Dad have an appointment with his oncologist in the morning (03/11/21), and we will move forward from there. Of course, this is a lot to process and I’m not sure that the reality of it has fully set in yet, but Mom and Dad are in good spirits, and aside from being on a liquid diet due not being able to swallow anything other than thin liquids, Dad’s feeling pretty good. Again, thank you everyone for the love, prayers and positive vibes… we love you and will do our best to keep this page updated as often as possible.

(Please Note: We are NOT asking for any donations. The Caring Bridge website does seem to have a lot of pop-ups for donations; feel free to donate to them if you like, but know that none of those donations are for Dad. Thanks)

Journal entry by Connie Trenary

Frank and l  would like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!

We have so much to be thankful for. Frank is no longer receiving treatments. His last PET scan continues to show no signs of cancer, as did his endoscopy last week. He will have another PET scan in three months and an endoscopy in six.

This will probably be my last post. Please know how grateful we are for all the prayers that you offered up for Frank and our family. May God bless you.

Love,
Connie
