Newest Update

Journal entry by Rachel Mitchell

Hi again,
This is all super delayed, mostly because I just didn’t want to share Frank’s details with the world yet again. I didn’t want to burden people on their fun Memorial Day weekend. But... I do think it’s important to keep documenting this stuff just so we have this info straight, so here goes!

It’s been quite a while since Frank’s been thrown upside down by his nemesis.  He’s been back to work and living to about 85-90% and has mended quite nicely. However... that’s changed a bit.

Last Thursday night on 5/27/2021 Frank was working his usual 11a-11p shift. In the late afternoon he checked himself in as a patient due to abnormal upper GI bleeding and pain in his left shoulder and side. Hemoglobin dropped a little to 11.8 and CT showed a stress ulcer, as well as dissected aneurysm to liver. The latter was actually present in older CTs but just discovered last Thursday. Frank surmised that this finding was likely not detected back in January due to cysts & what not blocking  the image.  He’s guessing the ulcer was due to taking a little too much Naproxen, fir his shoulder pain, but who really knows.

The med staff performed endoscopy & clamped his ulcer as well as injected epinephrine around it to help reduce it. He stayed at Regions until about 8 pm in Friday and was so happy to get home and be able to rest! The bleeding subsided entirely.

Once home he slept for 12 hours and then felt fairly good. However, by Saturday evening some wicked left shoulder pain crept in again and he wrestled through another night of that torture. By 8 am his pain was finally managed and he was able to sleep till about noon. Then he was ok. for a few hours until he developed a fever of 100.8 around 6pm. He’s chalking the fevers & pain to recovery from the surgery.
Now he’s fine again.
Just wanted to add this to the journal so we have a record of this latest episode. He will schedule a colonoscopy soon to deal with this aneurysm. No, he won’t be working tomorrow and I really don’t know yet about this work trip he’s supposed to go on to TN.
Lastly, if all goes well, he will be speaking about his journey this Saturday morning at Celebration Church in Lakeville at a Men’s breakfast. All men are welcome :)

Today, 5/30, is also the 3rd anniversary of my dad’s passing. I think of the man all the time, so honestly this day is not that much more significant than the others in that regard. I love him so much and really look forward to seeing him again one day!

The world is a topsy turvy place, but I am so thankful for the promises of my king and savior, Jesus Christ, on whom I lay my burdens and troubles and rejoice in His goodness abs faithfulness.

*Update* 6/3, Frank actually worked a full 12 on Tuesday and then barely slept from 1-6 a.m. then jumped on a plane to TN to work fir Zoll.
This man! I tell ya! He is bound & determined to press on! So far so good!! It’s Thursday night, exactly one week later & he’s holding steady. Avoiding ALL acidic food & beverages so no coffee for the guy. Ouch!
Hope this all makes sense to you. I’m writing it over a few days. Frank called a few hours ago and all is well!!! God is good. Thanks for reading & goodnight!
