Frank’s Story

Site created on July 2, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. As many of you know, Frank was diagnosed with Stage IV Prostate Cancer on May 17th, 2018. This site will include updates about his treatment, prognosis and other general information. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

**edit** CaringBridge might ask for donations but please know that you can follow our journey without any financial requirements. That is designed to help support the site to keep family and friends updated when people are going through a health crisis, not us directly. We are not asking for donations and want to ensure everyone understands that donations are going to the site and not us.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Katie Burlage Lenz

My apologies for the lack of posting recently. Exhaustion definitely set in and side effects are keeping Frank in bed more than out of it.

But today is a very special day as Frank rings the bell for his final treatment. He wrote an incredible message to the radiation team that has been working with him these last 4 weeks and I will hopefully post that soon.

Today, two of his radiation buddies stayed around to congratulate him and witness him ring the bell. Many more stopped to hug him and wish him well. May our prayer warriors keep them in their thoughts as they continue their journey!

Frank’s treatment plan calls for a continuation of the Zytiga and Lupron (hormone blockers) and regular monitoring of his PSA levels. His radiation was short but intense, and the effects will continue for the next 6-12 months. As long as his PSA stays low, we will do nothing. Should his PSA begin to rise, we will scan again and attempt to spot treat any other tumors. It doesn’t do us any good to scan now as the radiation has temporarily put his tumors to sleep, so monitoring is the plan. We will continue to meet with both radiation and medical oncology and pray for recovery.

Thank you seems so insufficient but our hearts are full with the love and support we have received. From meals to messages, care packages and my Dad flying up to help this last week, we can’t thank our family and friends enough. Thanks to Sean, Mark, John, Adam, Joe and Dad for driving Frank and giving him some man time. Our friends and family have lifted us up and We are so thankful. God has blessed us in this scary time.

So now the rock comes home to be a daily reminder that Frank does indeed have this, along with the support of all of you!
